Toyota could be preparing to introduce the Hilux BEV in Nepal, marking a significant step toward electrifying one of the most iconic pickup nameplates. While there’s no official confirmation yet, Toyota is evaluating the possibility.
The Hilux BEV is powered by a 59.2 kWh battery pack, offering an estimated WLTP range of around 240 km. The electric Hilux stays true to its rugged roots but swaps the diesel engine for a dual-motor setup producing a combined 144 kW and 468 Nm of torque.
With permanent all-wheel drive via front and rear eAxles, it’s engineered to retain the off-road capability the Hilux is known for. The Hilux BEV features Toyota’s Multi-Terrain Select system, which adjusts brake and torque distribution depending on the surface, effectively replicating low-range 4x4 functionality found in traditional pickups.
Inside, the pickup brings a more modern and premium cabin, featuring a 12.3-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims add features like heated seats, wireless charging, an upgraded sound system, and LED lighting elements.

If it arrives, the Hilux BEV could carve out a new niche in Nepal’s EV market—positioning itself alongside existing electric pickups like the Riddara RD6 and Maxus eTerron 9 as while offering a fully electric alternative in a segment still largely dominated by diesel models.
